Spanning four continents, the GP-CK Birla Group has global revenues of more than $1.2 billion with interests in major industries, including automobile, bearings, earthmoving and power transmission equipment, heavy machinery, paper, cement, building products and electrical products and information technology. The group has a track record of successful partnerships and collaborations with technology leaders like General Motors, Caterpillar, Ford Motors, Mitsubishi Motors, Isuzu Motors and NTN to name a few.

The group entered the information technology arena in 1992-93. Initially, the company, Birla Horizons International, concentrated on professional services with offices in New Delhi, New Jersey and California. In 1998, the company was rejuvenated and renamed Birlasoft Inc. when GE Capital joined the company as a strategic investor. Over the years Birlasoft has evolved into an institution with more than 4,000 employees across the globe.

The RSL is a totally independent, non-party political organisation run by its members, for its members and the ex-service community.

Committees and office bearers are elected and organised at local (Sub-Branches and Regions) levels, at State Branch levels and at National level.

League policies on such matters as veterans' needs, the National Flag, Defence Force Conditions of Service, Defence Service Homes, medical and hospital benefits and compensation are reviewed regularly and form the basis on which the RSL voices its opinions on these and other national issues.

Clayton Bowls Club was formed in 1961 on Land that was leased from the Conservation and Environmental Department, managed by the Oakleigh Council. The land on which Clayton Bowls Club currently stands was largely swamp that was located next to the Namatjira Springs.

The Namatjira Spring was a watering hole used by early horse drawn coaches such as Cobb & co on route from Melbourne to Dandenong. Springs Road, the road that our club is on and Namatjira Park which surrounds the club were consequently named after the Namatjira Springs.

The Club originally consisted of one green and a single shedt. This shed was rebuilt and over the years the Clayton Bowls Club had undergone six extensions and refurbishments to achieve our present magnificent club.

We have also added two extra greens over the years and our managers are now the Kingston Council. The water from the springs is still collected and used to water the green, as was done when the club first opened.
